On October 31, 2001, NAMSA acquired Cole Industrial Laboratories, LLC, of Toledo, Ohio, which manufactures the GroPro PLUSâ brand of growth promotion indicator organisms. Sean Colwell, founder and manager of Cole Labs, has accepted the position of National Accounts Manager – Products with NAMSA and will assist in the merger of the two companies’ growth promotion product lines, assets, and customer-related services.
“The acquisition of Cole Laboratories will be advantageous to both NAMSA and Cole Labs customers,” states Dr. Joel Gorski, NAMSA’s Director of Business Development. “Our product lines are complementary, and by consolidating them we will be able to offer customers of both companies a wider range of products. In addition to an expanded product line, NAMSA gains Mr. Colwell’s expertise in customer relationship management, microbiological product development, and manufacturing operations.”
“I would like to assure all Cole Labs customers that the merger with NAMSA represents a continued commitment to provide them with quality microbial products and services,” notes Sean Colwell. The Cole Labs product line includes a wide variety of growth promotion organisms, including Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which complement NAMSA’s current line of six growth promotion organisms (Aspergillus niger, Bacillus stearothermophilus, Bacillus subtilis, Candida albicans, Clostridium sporogenes and Micrococcus luteus), expanding to eight the total number of organisms offered. No products from the original Cole or NAMSA lines will be discontinued.
As an entrepreneur, Sean Colwell joins NAMSA with an extensive background in contract laboratory management, general sales, medical device testing, and quality assurance. He has a BS in Microbiology from Miami University and has pursued graduate studies with the Medical College of Ohio, Department of Microbiology. The addition of Mr. Colwell to the business development team is a part of NAMSA's expansion in the areas of materials characterization and microbiological testing of medical devices.
