NAMSA Signs Agreement With New Affiliate in Asia

On July 1, 2002, NAMSA, the world leader in the nonclinical testing of medical devices, signed an agreement with Biomedical Research and Support Services Pte. Ltd. of Singapore, a medical technology company, to represent NAMSA’s testing services and products divisions in the countries of Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei.

Biomedical Research and Support Services, known as BRASS, is a spin-off company from the National University of Singapore, certified to ISO 9001:1994 standards. With NAMSA, they will provide GLP biocompatibility testing, functional and performance studies, and material characterization to the medical device industry in Southeast Asia. BRASS specializes in custom biological contract programs, along with bioburden and limulus amebocyte lysate (LAL) testing.

“We anticipate a synergistic relationship with BRASS,” notes Judi Gorski, NAMSA’s Vice President of International Operations. “In particular, we believe that BRASS founder and Director Dr. Eugene Khor, a biomaterials scientist who represents Singapore in the ISO Working Group TC 194, will supplement the expertise of NAMSA scientists in providing customers in Asia with valuable expertise in international regulatory requirements.”

In addition to BRASS, NAMSA maintains affiliate relationships with Med-Net GmbH in Germany, Medical Engineering Technologies (M.E.T.) in the United Kingdom, and Senkom Corporation in Japan.

NAMSA is a multinational company with laboratories in the United States and France, specializing in nonclinical testing services. NAMSA offers materials characterization, biocompatibility, and microbial testing to ensure the safety and efficacy of medical devices. The U.S.A. laboratories (Ohio, Georgia, and California) have ISO 9001 certification and Biomatech, in France, is accredited according to EN 45001. NAMSA also manufactures sterility assurance products such as biological indicators, growth promotion test suspensions, and chemical process indicators.
