Dr. Ouriel pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Rochester (New York). After earning his Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology and Psychology, he studied medicine at the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago. He then completed his residency in General Surgery and fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the University of Rochester, where he remained a valued faculty member for over a decade.

In 1998, he became Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was later promoted to the Chief of Surgery in 2003. In 2008, Dr. Ouriel served as Senior Vice President of International Operations at New York-Presbyterian Hospital while earning an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Columbia University (New York) and the London Business School (United Kingdom).

In 2010, Dr. Ouriel founded Syntactx, a Clinical Research Organization (CRO) that focused on Cardiovascular medical device trials. Syntactx was acquired by NAMSA in December 2020, with Dr. Ouriel assuming the role of Chief Medical Officer.
