Prof. Peter Stalmans is an internationally recognized vitreoretinal surgeon and clinical researcher with more than 25 years of leadership in vitreoretinal disease, surgical innovation, and pharmacologic vitreolysis. He is Head of Clinic at the Department of Ophthalmology, University Hospitals Leuven (UZ Leuven), and Associate Professor at KU Leuven, one of Europe’s leading academic medical centers. Prof. Stalmans is widely regarded for his pioneering work on the vitreomacular interface, especially as a principal investigator and senior author in the ocriplasmin (microplasmin).
