Spore Stain

Test Description

This test is selected to detect endospores by staining and morphological examination of microorganisms. Endospores are protective structures within an organism that help it survive extreme conditions. Knowing if an isolate recovered from a sample/specimen is a spore former is useful to assist with selection of a sterilization process.
